Good mapping starts with ground control. Today, technology has advanced and surveying is no longer limited to the ground. We now have available new tools - Global positioning System (GPS) and Airborne GPS. Using signals from a network of orbiting satellites, we can now pinpoint locations on Earth with greater accuracy at a fraction of the cost.
Projects for federal, provincial and private sector have demonstrated that differential GPS positioning of airborne sensors can satisfy a wide range of accuracy requirements.
